Please pray for all the families of our fallen service men and women who leave behind empty chairs for their families. And pray for all those troops now deployed in harm’s way that they will return safely to their homes and loved ones.

In one place, however, the Scripture draws aside the veil from the heart of one of them, the mother of James and John, and shows her approaching Jesus with the request: “Promise . . . that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right and the other on Your left, in Your kingdom.” . . . “You don’t know what you’re asking,” Jesus said (Mt 20:21-22).
