Super Bowl Champions

Today is Superbowl Sunday and right now you, like most Americans, are probably getting together with a bunch of junk food to party with friends and family to watch the big game! I love the super bowl for many reasons— but the ultimate reason for me to watch is because I love good competition. After tonight one team will be crowned champion and the other will fall to second place. This level of game elevates the competition because the stakes are so high. Both of these teams have battled over the past year in the weight room, training, and competition to get to this point and now only one can be the champion. The crowning moment is hugely rewarding because of the effort put into a great victory.

Leading up to Super Bowl Sunday one thing has been ringing in my mind on a daily basis— “run in such a way as to win the prize…” It’s the summarizing verse out of 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 where Paul is encouraging the Corinthian people to walk out their faith with the highest level of excellence because at the end of this race there will be an imperishable prize for those who did not give up.  How much are you willing to fight for the prize? Super Bowl Sunday is amazing and the glory at the end of the day will be great, but temporary. All the time, energy, and effort going into only a moment of glory! I have so much respect for the coaches and athletes commitment to train and exert so much energy into becoming the best at what they do. We all have stuff in our lives that we put an exceptional amount of work into— yet at the end of all your endeavors, where will you end up? Where will your reward take you? What will be the prize of your life taken into eternity?

“Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them; nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’ And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” Revelation 7:16-17

The conviction on my heart is to follow Jesus with my whole heart. I have pushed all my chips into the middle, and I have found no reward greater than eternal life in the kingdom of heaven with the God who loves me so much that he offered up His life as a sacrifice for mine. Not only did he take away my sin and guilt but he is preparing a place for me in his kingdom.

I believe Jesus is calling you to himself today, you are the prize he has been fighting for and pursuing— you are never alone, and you are always loved.

Today this is a Sign of Hope, that no matter the circumstance you are in, or the breakthrough you need, God is near to you and He has “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

* New England Patriots won over Atlanta Falcons in overtime 34-28.

I thought I would something different. (I know…scary right?)

This whole post is going to be all done from songs from last Sunday’s church service. You may recognize some of them. Here we go:

You listen every time I speak.

God listens to us. He doesn’t turn a deaf ear. I knows our needs. He knows our hurts and pain. He will listen and answer our prayers.

You are the one that never changes

God is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow. He never decides to change His promises He has laid out for us in the Bible.

My shame is undone because of you

We do not need to live in shame every day. Just one day of asking for forgiveness, and all shame is washed away. You have a clean slate. Pretty exciting.

You bring light to the darkness

We all have faced the dark side. We have all been through raging storms in our lives. God is there to help calm them and show us the way to the light.

It’s your breath in our lungs

We seem to forget that God put the first breath in Adam. He puts the breath into each and every one of us. We are made in His own image.

What will wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Oh precious is the flow that makes me white as snow.

Through the Bible we have learned that there is one and only one way to be saved and have salvation. Jesus went to the cross and endured much pain so we could have eternal life.

You praises will ever be on my lips

Because of all the things does for us from above we should be praising Him every day, 24/7. He loves us and we need to love Him in return. I say He loves us, and yes, that is warts and all. He doesn’t care if you are rich; good looking; or famous. He loves each of us at our own level.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

Tired of the same things happening every day? Do you dread getting up in the mornings knowing that you are off to work once again, and you have to face all that traffic?

So many people live that kind of life. They look like robots. All going out to their cars in the driveway at the same time. All heading to their work place. Then they have to fight rush hour traffic on the way home.

We all know we need to provide for our families. We all know that if we don’t work hard our families will suffer.

That type of stress is hard to handle sometimes. We would rather be sitting on a beach in Hawaii, drinking a Mai Tai.

What can we do to make our days seem more exciting?

One of the things that gets me going every day, is the time I spend talking to my Heavenly Father. I give the day to Him and get ready to enjoy the ride He has provided for me.

Note that God doesn’t always provide a yellow brick road that leads to the pot of gold. There will be some storms, and trials.

Think back to some of His followers in the Old Testament. Moses, was a great lover of God, and yet he had to nearly crawl through the desert. Jonah did great things for God, even though he tried to run and hide from God.

In the New Testament, it didn’t get much better. Peter was crucified while hanging upside down. Paul had ailments, ship wrecks, snake bites, a thorn in his side, and many other walls that surrounded him.

Jesus, was the ultimate follower of God, in that He allowed God to use Him as an example for all mankind to see, and receive eternal life. But in doing so, Jesus had to go through much pain, agony and shame.

So, as we get up in the morning and complain that we have to do the same old things every day, we need to think about others that went through much more trials and storms we could ever imagine.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

It has been long time since I last posted. I have had a serious hit by hackers, and we are still trying to find a way around their blockage. This lets me know that Signs of Hope is not liked by those who are anti-Christian.It is a hustle and bustle time of year. There are just few more days until Christmas. I just got home from shopping and I have three people done on my list of whom I am supposed to buy for. I am about half way through and the clock is ticking.

Do you feel like time is passing you by? Have you not reach the goals you have wanted to in your life? Are there things you let fade away because someone said you couldn’t do it?

It is time to put in the ear plugs!! It is time to shut out the negative vibrations around you?

You can achieve anything you want if you believe in yourself, and let God guide you down the path He has planned for you.

You don’t have to give up. You don’t have to listen to the world that is against you. You need not stop reaching for those dreams you hold dear.

Get up and hit the road running from this moment on! Start a new attitude. Realize that there are so many wonderful things that can happen in your life if you just try.

It has to start with you. Not many people around you are going to help you be successful. You need to show them that you are worthwhile. You need to let them know that you do not give up easily. By doing this they will admire you more, and even get on your bandwagon, and help you achieve your goals.

Remember:
You are never alone.
You are never forsaken.
You are never unloved.
And above all…never, ever, give up!
