With the happenings in our world today, there is mass confusion.

Every day there seems to be some kind of terrorist attack, or killings. A disgruntled worker comes back to work and shoots his fellow workers. A terrorist group attacks a resort in a foreign land.

These just happened this week.

No wonder there is so much confusion.

Why is this happening?

People have tremendous hate in their hearts. They will do what ever they can to destroy the happiness that others have. they want every one to suffer, because they think they are suffering. They want others to face confusion and hurt.

Well, It it time for all of them and ourselves as well to look in the mirror. Too many people don’t want to look in the mirror and see who they really are.

I mentioned happenings in our world above. Knowing you are a Christian, you know that you are not part of this world. You are a child of God. So the people who ARE a part of this world are those who are opposed to God.

They use God’s name to try to convince others that their killings are pleasing to God. They praise Allah and yet kill innocent people in a New York minute. They will what ever they can to spread confusion and fear.

The Prince of this world is in charge and he is a very happy dude. Everything is going according to plan for him. He is enjoying putting his victims up on his trophy wall.

How do we avoid all the tragedy, and chaos of this world?

Go back to the mirror. What do you see? Are you happy with who you are? Find out who you really are. You can come to the end of your life and never know who you are.

So many people have a theory that they need to know what something will do to help them. What can I get out life to make me happy?

People “want,” something simply because they “want” it. They don’t even talk about need. There is no need involved what so ever, just “want.”

We need to get back to the basics of reading the Bible and seeing what God “wants,” us to do. His wants lead to eternal life. We need to not just read the Bible, we need to do what it says. We need to hear the word in our churches we need to do what it says.

Seem simplistic but if all of us, today, lived that different life of obeying the Word, the world would change pretty quickly. People would understand each other more. People would reach out to help others more.

Show you love God, by listening to His Holy words.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

Today is Easter. The most important day of the year. It is the day that Jesus rose from the dead and gave us hope.

Speaking of hope…we hope all the time. We hope for a better job. We hope for a better marriage. We hope we will pass the college test. We hope to find a job.

Hope is a good four letter word that we cling to. We need hope. We need to think everything will come out OK.

Yet, we mope and whine that nothing is going our way. We want more. We want perfection in our lives.

Now, switch your thinking and think of what they were doing to Jesus on that cross. He was near death, and yet he still said, Father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing!

He still loved the people very much. He still wanted them to be happy and prosper. He died a horrible death that the Romans never allowed to happen to their own people. It was too gruesome.

Now, back to your own needs. Are you needs so important, that you forget about what Jesus has done for you? Is your, so called, pain because you feel alone, or that God has left you?

Never, ever, forget what Easter is all about. It is about HOPE! It is about having a way to have eternal life, because of one man’s sacrifice for you.

Yes, we all would like a better life. Yes, some of our hope is selfish. We just need to take inventory of our lives, and see if our hope is in Jesus, or is it in ourselves, and us finding ways to survive in this world alone.

Heard a quote at church today, Jesus will draw near you during your doubts, but He doesn’t want to leave you there.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

Super Bowl Champions

Today is Superbowl Sunday and right now you, like most Americans, are probably getting together with a bunch of junk food to party with friends and family to watch the big game! I love the super bowl for many reasons— but the ultimate reason for me to watch is because I love good competition. After tonight one team will be crowned champion and the other will fall to second place. This level of game elevates the competition because the stakes are so high. Both of these teams have battled over the past year in the weight room, training, and competition to get to this point and now only one can be the champion. The crowning moment is hugely rewarding because of the effort put into a great victory.

Leading up to Super Bowl Sunday one thing has been ringing in my mind on a daily basis— “run in such a way as to win the prize…” It’s the summarizing verse out of 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 where Paul is encouraging the Corinthian people to walk out their faith with the highest level of excellence because at the end of this race there will be an imperishable prize for those who did not give up.  How much are you willing to fight for the prize? Super Bowl Sunday is amazing and the glory at the end of the day will be great, but temporary. All the time, energy, and effort going into only a moment of glory! I have so much respect for the coaches and athletes commitment to train and exert so much energy into becoming the best at what they do. We all have stuff in our lives that we put an exceptional amount of work into— yet at the end of all your endeavors, where will you end up? Where will your reward take you? What will be the prize of your life taken into eternity?

“Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them; nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’ And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” Revelation 7:16-17

The conviction on my heart is to follow Jesus with my whole heart. I have pushed all my chips into the middle, and I have found no reward greater than eternal life in the kingdom of heaven with the God who loves me so much that he offered up His life as a sacrifice for mine. Not only did he take away my sin and guilt but he is preparing a place for me in his kingdom.

I believe Jesus is calling you to himself today, you are the prize he has been fighting for and pursuing— you are never alone, and you are always loved.

Today this is a Sign of Hope, that no matter the circumstance you are in, or the breakthrough you need, God is near to you and He has “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

* New England Patriots won over Atlanta Falcons in overtime 34-28.

I thought I would something different. (I know…scary right?)

This whole post is going to be all done from songs from last Sunday’s church service. You may recognize some of them. Here we go:

You listen every time I speak.

God listens to us. He doesn’t turn a deaf ear. I knows our needs. He knows our hurts and pain. He will listen and answer our prayers.

You are the one that never changes

God is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow. He never decides to change His promises He has laid out for us in the Bible.

My shame is undone because of you

We do not need to live in shame every day. Just one day of asking for forgiveness, and all shame is washed away. You have a clean slate. Pretty exciting.

You bring light to the darkness

We all have faced the dark side. We have all been through raging storms in our lives. God is there to help calm them and show us the way to the light.

It’s your breath in our lungs

We seem to forget that God put the first breath in Adam. He puts the breath into each and every one of us. We are made in His own image.

What will wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Oh precious is the flow that makes me white as snow.

Through the Bible we have learned that there is one and only one way to be saved and have salvation. Jesus went to the cross and endured much pain so we could have eternal life.

You praises will ever be on my lips

Because of all the things does for us from above we should be praising Him every day, 24/7. He loves us and we need to love Him in return. I say He loves us, and yes, that is warts and all. He doesn’t care if you are rich; good looking; or famous. He loves each of us at our own level.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!
