Do you say your name when you are alone.? Silly question? Not really! Do you know who you are? Now that question makes more sense.

If you aren’t sure who you are, look in the mirror.

If you wonder if you have self worth, look in the mirror.

If you think other people don’t like you, look in the mirror.

If you wander why you were put on this planet, look in the mirror.

What does a mirror have to do with anything? What you see is your reflection and what other people see. Now that is OK, but here is the real reason you look in the mirror.

You are made in God’s Image!

God doesn’t make mistakes. When He creates something He says, “That is good!” He created the heavens and the earth and said that was good. He said the same thing when He created you.

You have self worth in His eyes. You are important in His eyes. You have a purpose in His eyes.

Stop looking in that mirror and be depressed, Every morning get up and run to that mirror and say “Good morning God! Thank you for creating me!” Then go out and see what plans He has for you on that day.

Remember:
You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

Life is hectic! Life is too fast! Life seems to be leaving me in the dust!

Do any of those statements fit you? I know your pain. The earth seems to be spinning way too fast. There have been times when I felt I want to let loose and allow the world to throw me off of this planet.

Before I actually check out of this hotel called earth, let me share some things with you:

  • I have said this meaning times, but all storms stop and then there is the Son!
  • Everytime I face adversity I seem to grow. Though it is very hard, I am stronger.
  • When I see someone else who is hurting and I reach out to help them, its seems to help  me as well. If I bring a smile to their face, I have one on my face too.
  • If I fall into the muck and mire of life, God is always there to pull me out.

We need to know who saved us, and how He defines we are. Do you know who you are under God’s love?

Genesis 1:26-28

Let me put it this way. God created everyone of us in His own image. He doesn’t make mistakes. He created you for a reason.

You are very special. He didn’t create you like any other creature. We weren’t created to look like the animals of the forest. We weren’t even created to look like angels. We are totally created in God’s image.

We are more like God than any living thing.

Cling to this. Never feel you are inferior to anyone. God created man and woman and said there were create equal.

When you look in the mirror realizes that you are looking at God’s image. Be thankful he went as far as to create you in this way.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never,ever, give up.

We welcome Tyler Wilkins back as a a guest blogger. He always inspires me, and I hope he does the same for you.

Today is the start to a new year, and with every new year comes a feeling of a fresh start. It’s not something mystical, it’s more than that. It’s a movement toward change, hope rises up as people dream of creating a better tomorrow. Many are encouraged to lose weight in hopes of a more confident and healthy lifestyle. Others set goals to get out of debt, save money, buy a house, get married, have a child and so on.

Yet others are not so hopeful… This morning I asked the guy at the front desk of the gym I attend what his new years resolution is and he jokingly responded that he set a goal to “survive 2017.” Although his intentions were light hearted I was reminded of the reality that so many people are entering into this new year without a sincere hope that something better is coming.

As for you on this new years day I want to encourage you to set your sights higher than ever before, to believe that the seemingly impossible is possible and that your current situation is not a projection of your future but is a sign that the old is melting away and the new life is coming.

My goal in writing to you today is not to convince you that the mistakes, devastation, or hurt you faced yesterday has nothing to do with tomorrow. It sounds nice, but I believe it actually takes away from the fullness of joy you would otherwise experience.

As a Christian I have the privilege of living a life free from my past mistakes. It doesn’t mean I didn’t make mistakes, or even that I haven’t made mistakes since I gave my life to Jesus! But the penalty of my past no longer plays a domino affect into my future. Jesus brought into the world “good tidings of great joy.”

In Isaiah 61:1-7 God shows us somethings to expect with the coming of the gospel— “Good news to the poor, healing for the brokenhearted, liberty to the captives, opening of prison doors to those who are bound, the year of the Lords favor, the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn…” The list continues on but I think you can grasp the direction of God’s heart toward you in these verses.

I also want to encourage you to step out and trust God with your baggage. I am speaking to you as someone who lived my whole life in condemnation, guilt and sin. I was a liar, a thief, addicted to pornography, obsessed with the way I looked and filled with pride and a strong desire for money that overshadowed my love for people. I lived in a dark place without God for most of my life, a place without hope, and I thought I would never be completely free.

But it was in that dark place that God met me. Today I am a new creation, I have more joy, peace and love then ever before. I am happily married to my amazing wife Melissa. God removed from me the addiction to pornography, and every desire to sin and get away with it. My life feels squeaky clean, and I can’t help but share this freedom because I know it is for you as well.

Today this is a Sign of Hope, that no matter the circumstance you are in, or the breakthrough you need, God is near to you and He has “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

As we plow through the presidential primaries in the United States, people all over the world are watching closely. There are some strong “promises,” that are coming from both the Republications, and the Democrats.

Build walls. Get rid of the IRS. Expand the gay marriage rights to all the states. Make the Muslims leave. Close down their Mosques. Fire many of the Veteran’s Administrators  leaders and start over.

The list goes on.

The question is, can they really do each thing they say they are going to do?

I remember many times after a presidential election, from the past, how the new president realizes that he isn’t able to do some of his plans because of the law. He had to back-off from some of his promises causing much anger from the people.

Maybe we should learn from this. Maybe we shouldn’t promise too much ourselves. Maybe we should think rationally and put together an actual plan that makes our promises work. Wouldn’t that be novel?

To rant and rave about the pie in the sky ideas that may or may not ever happen is misleading, and the blunt of the mistakes it causes, falls on the people.

I have decided that I should never dive into any project, assignment, plan, without thoroughly dissecting each phase of the plan, and have it come out fine, smooth, and logical.

What we do in these situations is plow through something without thinking how it may affect those around us.

If we outlaw guns, or allow them, will it really make any difference? Won’t the bad guys still find ways to get their guns?

The bottom line is that we need to keep our composure and think things out one at a time, and then act on them. We can do this by relying on God to guide us through each situation.

That should work for the politicians, and it should work for us.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!
