Doug Bolton, the founder of Signs of Hope, is writing  a new book, “Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.” It reaches out the military and veterans who may be battling anxiety, fear, depression, addictions, rejections, PTSD, and many other usual suspects. There are 22 military connected suicides every day. That is almost one every hour. We need to help stop those statistics. Be looking for more details about the new book. Look for updates here.

UPDATE!!  In the final stages of having the book finished. Much of it is already sent off to my editor. The countdown begins!!

The human heart craves…

…peace

…a Savior

…forgiveness

…strength to cope

…a leader to follow

…shelter in the storm

…security for the day

…protection from evil

…joy in spite of turmoil

…provision for all needs

…power to fight the enemy

…recognition of achievement

…fulfillment for its emptiness

…to be loved, unconditionally

…safety from all that would harm

…soothing for the frustrations of life

…to be accepted, without reservation

…refreshment in those parched times

…courage to step out when fainthearted

…tenderness when the world is unlovely

…confidence and calm when fear attacks

…to be understood, without condemnation

…the right spouse, job, school, friendships

…comfort in times of stress, grief, and affliction

…a guidance counselor to find the designed path

…encouragement for those days filled with woes

…to be welcomed Home into the Everlasting Arms

…an intimate relationship with the Love of the universe!

And yes, there are times when the human heart is contrary and desires the wrong things, seeking in confusion. A right heart craves to beat in perfect harmony with the Heartbeat of the Beloved.

Crave the Love that is offered in that intimate relationship. Crave that oneness. Crave the Love that is above all others. Crave the Love that loves you beyond belief.

Don’t feel like it? I hear some souls sinking. But I don’t feel loved.

Perhaps you’ve been grieving over some loss in your life. Perhaps you’ve been wrongfully accused of something or hurt in some way. Perhaps you’re feeling very discouraged right now. Perhaps you have negative feelings about yourself or negative thoughts bombarding your mind.

Perhaps…well, whatever your perhaps may be, your heart is wounded. Your eyes spill over with stress-induced tears from a broken heart.

Well, I’m here to tell you that feelings change but the truth of God’s love does not. The truth is…God loves you with a love that can still any storm, win any battle, override any tension or discomfort, soothe any pain, comfort any hurt, calm any fear, encourage any heartache, and will always uphold you and share peace and joy with you.

You, the one He loves truly. You, the one for whom He died. You, the one to whom He yearns to be close. You, the Lord’s espoused, His intended, His precious companion for all eternity. You are His precious heart’s desire.

He rejoices over you with mirth and pleasure. He spins around in excitement over you with shouts of joy and songs of praise! (Zeph. 3:17)

This is the Love your heart is craving!

“We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect.” (1 John 4:16-17a NLT)

No matter what circumstance is swirling around you, you are loved and you will be okay. If your life is falling apart right now, you’ll be okay. Even if all looks dark and dreary, you’ll be okay.

Let me encourage you… YOU. ARE. LOVED. Each. And. EVERY. Day. No matter what!

The only one you truly need to make you feel loved is the Lord. He will never leave you, nor abandon you. And that, my sweet friend, should fill your love tank to overflowing!

May your craving be filled with that special, tender fulfilling Love!

Blessings, Lynn

Lord, you are # 1, but I have some other loves in my life.

That is how many people live their lives. They are believers, but have their priorities backwards. They want to go to church. They try to live a honest and good life, but there is a big void in their hearts.

How do I know this? It is because I have been there myself. There have been times when I felt like taking on this world by myself. I felt things were going great so why take time to pray, or read the Bible.

It was like I was jumping over a cliff and expecting me to be able to fly on my own. It isn’t going to happen my friend.

I have been through too many battles of adversity the last fifteen years to think that God isn’t important. I have been on a death bed. I have been through incredible pain. I have faced the unknown when they tried to find out what was wrong with me physically.

If I hadn’t put God first in my life during these times, I am not sure I would be here typing this post tonight.

There were nights of depression. I called out to God, and he gave me peace.

There were nights that I was very afraid. God held my hand and helped me through the storm.

We must remember that God brings light into the darkness. We need to remember that we are His children. He created us in His own image.

I have learned:

  • Going through the days without God leads to a dead end.
  • Not going to church causes me to slide. I need the fellowship of my fellow Christian brothers and sisters.
  • This life on earth s temporary, but life with God is eternal.
  • That I cannot let the dark side pull me down. God is my strength, and my fortress.
  • Playing the victim is never a good thing. Living on the promises of God is a good thing.

So,  what if your healing came through tears? What if many storms come? What is the pain is overwhelming?

There is some versus from a song that I really love:

“In my hurts; in my worst moments; in my storms, you will not forsake me.”

Every time I hear those words and are actually singing them it gives me hope. It gives me peace.

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

It is great to have Lynn Mosher back as our guest blogger. She writes about something that is dear to our heart, trying to find joy.

Is Your Bucket of Joy Empty?

Exhausted. Forsaken. Lacking.

Barren. Depleted. Void.

Dry. Unfilled. Empty.

Do any of those describe how you are feeling? Has your bucket of joy, peace, and faith been drained and now you’re looking for an answer, a refill?

You say to yourself, “What’s missing?”

So, you begin to search for that elusive “something” to fill up your bucket. You decide to go on vacation in search of “it.” Maybe “it” is in the soothing sands of the beach, with the ocean’s gentle waves lapping at the shore. But the remedy doesn’t work. When you return home, all the vacation drains out of your bucket. You’re still empty. “It” was not in the vacation.

Next, you buy a new car, thinking “it” will pump up your ego. But that does not fill your void. Your bucket is still empty. “It” was not in the car.

You purchase a new house to inflate your pride, but the house just cost you more money and didn’t fill your bucket. “It” was not in the house.

Then, you go after a higher paying job because you need more money. You think the power of your new job will appease your empty bucket. But now, you work late every night to pay off the car and the house you couldn’t afford, which only causes more problems in your marriage. Your bucket remains empty. Work was not “it.”

So, you begin to bar hop. All the drinks do not contain “it” until you meet a lovely young thing or a handsome young hunk. That pumps you up libido, for a while. But all the air escapes from your balloon one night when you come home from your tryst and find that all your family has moved out.

Then, the words of the old song hit you in the face, “Looking for love in all the wrong places.” And your bucket seems even emptier. An affair was not “it.”

So, you find yourself upon your bed, in tears, wondering where it all began, where you went wrong. Reaching back into your memory box, you pull out the memory of you on your knees beside your bed, saying your prayers.

You slide off the bed and onto the floor, with knees popping and creaking from years of not bending. You bow your head and begin to sob as you seek the One True Answer…Jesus. The One you have so long ignored. The One you have been searching for and didn’t even know it. The One Who loves you more than anything, enough to die for you.

You pour out your heart to Him. He comes and kneels beside you, wrapping His loving arm around your heaving shoulders and whispers in your ear, “What you needed was not to be found in your vacation, nor in your new car or new house, or all the other things you used as a substitute, for what you needed was My Love.

“I’ve been here all along, kneeling by your bedside, night after night, waiting for you to kneel and find Me once again. Now, you’ve recognized your need.

“Let’s get rid of all that stands in the way between us, separating us from that special companionship you so desperately need and I so desire to have with you. You have found your Answer. “It” is Me, the Lover of your soul. I am your dwelling place. Never leave My side again.”

You fall at His feet in praise and say as David did, “You have shown me the way of life, and You will fill me with the joy of Your presence.” (Acts 2:28 NLT quoted from Ps. 16:11)

Whatever you have been through or are going through right now, I pray that your bucket be filled and runneth over with faith, hope, joy, and love in Jesus.

From His feet, Lynn

I am so amazed how many people have subscribed to this site. In 2009 I started with zero subscribers. Now we are very near 90,000. It has been growing fast and will continue to grow.

Why is this happening? Am I such a great writer that people flock to read my every word? Should I write another book and be famous? (I am by the way) Not a chance is it because of my writing abilities.

Yes, I say things that uplift people every day. Yes, I have some of the greatest guest bloggers on the planet.

However, I strongly feel we are growing so fast is because  the world is hurting right now. Bombings every where; diseases running out of control. Lives broken because of lost loved ones, or divorce.

These people are seeking hope. They search the web to find something to give them peace, and to help fight off their depression.

Daily Signs of Hope, is so well known now that it is on the first page of every search engine.  The people see the word hope, and they come.

What is you life like? Do you dread getting up each day to go to that boring job. Are you so ill you can’t even get up? Do you feel like you are on a island by yourself?

Does it is seem like there are more dark days than light? I have seen the dark side, and it is very scary, and will overwhelm us if we don’t fight back.

How do we fight back?

  • There is always the light after the darkness.  The night times turn into dawns, and then there is the bright sunshine. That is what we need to cling to.
  • All storms we face end. Some may be raging storms like illness. That is when we need to lean on God the most.
  • When we are facing our darkest days is when God is the closest.
  • I have found that when I face adversity, I grow a little bit more. I gain more strength to fight the next storm.

Do I look forward to facing the raging storms? Of course not. I wish it could be all sunshine and peace, but that isn’t true life for us. We will have a bad days and we will have good days. How we handle each situation defines our character.

What is your character like?
