I see to toe doctor today to get my toe nails clipped. I can’t bend down far enough anymore to do it myself. It’s called old age. I am 84 and suffering from the pain of getting older than dirt. 🙂

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Do you struggle with your age? Is it causing you pain and discomfort? I hear you!

We need to be strong and face the walls in front of us. We need to climb over them, dig under them, or just crash through them.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Of course we have help. God is with us 24/7. He will help us with the pain. He will hold our hand through the storm. He is just a prayer away.

Be strong and call on the Lord to help you through the day.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

I have had Drs. appointments everyday this week. I have another one today. I need to remind you that getting old is not for sissies.

Thoughts to ponder:

  1. The gospel is not just for your pastor.
  2. It is not just for the evangelist.
  3. It is for every believer to share.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

That is you and me. We are laymen, but we are also commissioned to share the gospel.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

So much turmoil in our world today. Wars, and rumors of war. Inflation, southern border, corruption, gas prices, and much more. It is hard to be optimistic during these times.

So what can we do to overcome this?

  1. Be strong in your belief.
  2. Never let the darkside overcome you.
  3. Know that God is right there for you holding your hand.
  4. Reach out to others who may be suffering.

Remember:

You are never alone,

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

I have exciting news about my right hip. I was already in preop, and the next time I saw that doctor I would be on the operating table having surgery on my right hip.

Well, my primary doctor sent the orthopedic a note saying he wants me to try some pain management first.

I went to see the pain doctor and he gave me a startling request. He wanted me to cut back on my pain pills, and see what happens. I got home and decided to go all the way, and take no pain pills.

That was over a week ago and there is no pain. I mean none!

Now there could be two things that happened:

  1. The orthopedic doctor was just seeing dollar signs to get me to have an operation, and spend the money lavishly.
  2. God created a miracle. This is the one I think happened. I was in terrible pain, and knew I was going to have to have surgery. I fought going to a pain doctor. Thank God I did.
  3. The pain doctor found many other problems with my body as he inspected. So I am getting CT exams on several places on my body. (Getting older is not for sissies!

I had a wonderful time at my weekly coffee gathering today. There was a WWII Veteran there who is 98 years old. I had already interviewed him for my upcoming book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.

The interview is full of near death experiences, and the freeing of two concentration camps. One was full of Jews, and the other English soldiers.

It is a fantastic interview that is a must read when the book comes out.

I will keep you posted here as to the progress of the book. You can also go to www.dougbolton.com. That is now just a military site that has up to date military news, and side stories.

I have been having pity parties lately. My health is not all that good. I am struggling with weak legs, arthritis in my hip, and total lack of energy.

How do I face each day?

  1. I thank God for the day. He is the one that gives me my air in my lungs every day.
  2. I realize that getting old isn’t for sissies, and face my storms head on.
  3. I read the Bible. All the comfort I need is found there.
  4. I do not worry about tomorrow. Jesus says, tomorrow has enough worries on its own.

I have been on a rollercoaster ride. I’m at the age when many physical things happen. They are painful. They are not life threatening at this point. However, the constant pain and suffering is not acceptable.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Now that I have been whining and trying to have a pity party, let’s move n in life.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Lie is not for sissies. There are trials everyday. We need to be patient, and strong. There are ways to overcome the darkside, and it all begins with turning to God.

God knows every hair on our head. He knows what we are going through. He wants the best for us. All we have to do is ask.

Prayer is a very powerful thing. I have seen it change lives many times.

  1. I had a grand nephew somehow live after the doctors said there is no chance he would make it. Even the doctors considered a miracle. He is now 15 years old and going strong.
  2. I had a friend in stage four lung cancer, and she is still live today, several years later.
  3. A friend lost her husband suddenly, and her only way to manage was to turn her live over to God. She is thriving now.

_________________________________________________________________________________

I could go on with many other answered prayers. They are never ending in my life.

Test it yourself. If you are overwhelmed with trials, Turn to God a pray for His intervention. He is listening.

I had my first physical therapy appointment today. Oh doggie was it rough. Kate my therapist pushed me hard. My muscles are aching right now. I need the therapy big time. My legs have gotten soft, and it is causing me balance problems and fatigue.

I will keep going and hope that I get stronger as the times goes by.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Have you had some times where you feel weak, and it is hard to move? I certainly hear you. This is a problem us and older folks face. The muscles start to weaken if we don’t’ keep exercising them.

Never feel you are falling apart. We just need to do something about our bodies.

  1. Go for walks as often as you can. Start out with a short walk, and don’t push it. Then stretch it out a little, Eventually you will be able to walk around a track several times.
  2. Cutting out of bad foods will help tremendously. I was eating some pretty bad stuff, and my weight sky rocketed. I go to cardiac rehab twice a week and walk on the tread mill. That will not only build up my strength, but it uses up many calories.
  3. Don’t sit at your computer all day. Get up at least once every half hour to stretch your muscles.

I bet you can think of many other things to do. List them now.

One of the things that happens to us when we get down on ourselves is depression. It come with the territory when we feel weak, fat, and unhealthy. The ting we always want to remember is that God is with us 24/7. He can brighten you day if you just take time to talk to Him. He loves to talk to you.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Never let the darkside drag you down like a huge magnate. Fight back with God’s help.

Being an author has been a thrill for me. My first book received a national award from the Reader’s Favorite Awards.

I am now working on my second book called, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the trenches of Life. It is almost finished and will come out by Christmas.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Sounds peachy keen right? Well, I have found that it is hard work and stressful. Not that I don’t enjoy writing. I love it, but there are other things I have to do like sell the book. I have been self publishing, which means it is all up to me to the marketing, promotions, signings, etc.

I am 83 years old and now am wondering if I have the stamina to go on with the big push for my second book.

________________________________________________________________________________________

Here is my feelings on that:

  1. Your never too old to start something.
  2. Use your age to be a expert on things people want to know about.
  3. Take time to do what ever project you are working on. Rushing has been bad news for me.
  4. Enjoy what you are doing. Don’t do it thinking you have to do it.

____________________________________________________________________________________

The most important thing to remember is that God is with you. He knows about your dreams. He knows what you are capable of. He will guide you down your path, or He will stop you if He thinks it is too much for you.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Remember:

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!

I am having a bad hair day. I fell yesterday and the second day aches and pains are here visiting me. It was at my niece’s house and didn’t see that her living room was a step down to get into it. I hit my grand nephew’s stroller and landed directly on my right knee. It scraped up my knee, but today it is hurting on the inside of knee in the bones as well.

______________________________________________

Have you had some falls? Do you have aches and pains from everyday efforts? You certainly are not alone. For people my age, (82) falling is not an uncommon thing. I am now living with a cane.

______________________________________________

Do not let this drag you down like a huge magnate. We will always have aches and pains.

I could say, “Buck up and quite whining,” But I feel for you. Getting older is not for sissies.

______________________________________________

Here is my list to cling to during my aches and pains:

  1. Remember the pain that Jesus had to go through for us. Our pain is nothing compared to that.
  2. I use my ailments to reach out to others. It helps them, and makes me feel good.
  3. Never let the darkside control your thinking. It is easy to be depressed all the time if you let that happen.

______________________________________________

I know that if you cling to God’s promises the pain won’t feel as bad. He is there for you. He knows your aches and pains. Pray for His protection, and comfort. He listens.

______________________________________________

You are never alone.

You are never forsaken.

You are never unloved.

And above all…never, ever, give up!
