Being With Family is Very Important to Us

Our family has taken a few days off and we are at Seaside, Oregon. It’s a fun place for kids and adults as well.

From our deck you can see the pacific Ocean, from two spots. It was beautiful yesterday, but drizzling today.

___________________________________________

How important is it to do things with family? Can’t they do their own things and get along that way? I don’t think so.

Here at Seaside, over 30 years ago, I brought my family, and we had a blast. Bumper cars, shooting galleries, and lots of great restaurants.

Time flies when there is so much to do.

At home there isn’t much talking going on. Everyone are on their cell phones isolated from the rest of the family. When it is meal time people get the food and go watch TV while they are eating. No socializing.

___________________________________________

This has led our country to be a “distant,” country. No one takes time to show love or understanding to anyone.

__________________________________________

What can we do to correct that?

Be strict and have everyone eat at the dinner table, and no cell phones.
Reach out to others through email, phoning, texting, etc. Don’t have idle chit chat. Ask how the other person is doing, and how you can help them if they need it.
Invite friends over just to sit and talk. Have your children there as well.

Our world is not a friendly place all the time. It is time for us to start reaching out and make new friends and socialize.

God wants us to communicate. He wants us to support each other. He loves us and wants us to have the best life possible while on this earth.

By doing all of this God is pleased, and you are happier because of all the interaction you have created.

Whining to God Doesn’t Put You on the Right Path

Have been battling pneumonia since Tuesday. On a antibiotic prescription routine. Have one day left for that. Getting better, but it seems slow.

___________________________________________

Another day another dollar. That was the saying when I was a child. They really meant it. A dollar a day was the wage back then. The amazing things about all of this is that I never felt poor. My single parent mother made sure my brother and I had, food to eat. A roof over our head, and even had a dime to go see a movie on Saturdays. We were happy.

___________________________________________

It pains me to hear about the “terrible” conditions people feel they have to go through these days. “Can’t buy the boat I wanted! Never able to drive the car I really want. Can’t give all my children I-Phones.” PLEASE!

Buckle up and face the day people. Things aren’t even close to being bad right now as far as material things. Be happy with what you have.

I sound whiny today. Sorry about that. There really are bad things we do have to face:

The pandemic, rioting, fake media, illnesses, and threats of war.

The only suggestion I have is to depend on God to see you through all of this mess. He knows what is going on, and in my opinion, we shouldn’t question His ideas. He knows what is best for you , and it may not be what you want. However, in the long run you will look back and realize that what He did for you was the right choice.

Never succumb to the earthly muck and mire. Stand strong and keep moving forward. Pray for guidence from God and He will show you the way.

We Need to Hold on Tight During Turmoils of Today

It is pretty rough for me right now. I have serious shortness of breath problems. Can’t even walk across a room. Going to have a nuclear stress test on Thursday, and go over the results with my cardiologist the next day. Hopefully we will come up with something.

I have been blessed by being asked to be a host on our online church services. That means I watch the service at home, and react to questions followers there may have.

On my very first assignment a man asked for prayer. I connected with him. He didn’t respond to anything I said, but I prayed for him on the screen anyway. I will follow up to see if he responded later yesterday.

+He did not, but I know the seed is planted.

Things seem to be running fast in the wrong direction in our country and all over the world. The liberal wing is pressing hard to cause an upheaval in our nation. They want to change laws. They want to slow down the building of the wall at the border.

The list goes on and on. We just have to pray for guidance during these troubling times.

It is hard, at best, to cope with life, when we have the pandemic, and many other problems in our lives. I just cling to the robe of God, and pray for help.

We need to stop looking at things with our rose colored glasses. The real world can be dark and dreary. We can remain strong with the help of our Heavenly Father.

Have you been running from the dark side? Have you feared what is ahead for you? I certainly hear you. I have my days of doubt, and discouragement.

The ace up my sleeve is God. He is with me wherever I go. He guides me through the muck and mire.

The Paths Many Take, Only Lead to a Dead End

As we walk the paths of life, there are areas that are dark and dangerous. They are very hard to maneuver around. So we trod along facing the dark.

I have heard far too much from news, (which I shouldn’t even be watching) that it is time for culture change, The one I heard yesterday was we can’t call our parents mommy or daddy anymore. There is a gender confusion for some. REALLY??

There are far too many, so called, leaders who have fallen off the path of reality. They are rushing fast towards socialism. We need to wake up and fight back.

Our president has been embarrassed many times while trying to give a speech. He loses where he is at in his speech. He forgets very important people who are right behind him on the stage,

This is beyond alarming. Rumors have it that he won’t last a year, and Kamala Harris will take over. Not a step up in my opinion.

I want you to know that I pray for our country every day. I may not agree with the leadership, but I pray that they will make good decisions, that help the people and not just themselves.

How do we withstand the onslaught of ideas that may not be good for our country:

Call and send notes to your congressmen and suggest ideas.
Do not listen to the fake media. They are spreading very big lies about just about everything.
Talk to your children and show them ways that are right, because they are getting liberal ideas shoved down their throats. Especially secondary education.

Now that I have ranted and raved, let’s concentrate on what is right and follow that path.

God has a plan, and He is in charge. It may be a little confusing right now what He is doing, But He knows what is best for us. We just need to keep praying and seeing where all of this is going.

Moses went to the mountain to see God, but we need to know that God is in the Valleys as well.

I often wonder What I would be if it wasn’t for God. God will never fail us. He is just a prayer away.

Storms Come; Storms Go, But God Will Never Forsake You

I am still struggling with various health issues. Today it is severe shortness of breath, and dizziness. I could blame the dizziness on when I look at my beautiful bride, but the shortness of breath has me concerned.

My blood pressure is great. My heart capacity is at 36 which isn’t too bad for my age.

Something is not right though. Hope to find out soon.

Our country is in turmoil. There is a 50/50 split in beliefs in the United States. Because of this nothing can get passed in Congress, and there are people suffering because of it.

We need to pray for our governments both national and local. Pray that they will make good decisions that will help the people, and not necessarily themselves.

___________________________________________

It seems to me that we all face storms these days. The storms may be a serious surgery coming up. It could be that you are out of a job, and there are bills to pay. It could be a break up of a relationship you have.

We need to remember that all storms pass. Then we have the SON.

Jesus is our fortress during the terrible storms we face. He can calm them down so we can handle them better.

When ever I know a storm is coming I pray ahead of time for God’s love, compassion, and protection.

Never take on this world alone. I can’t imagine trying to face my storms without God in my life.

If you seem to have more than your share of pain and headaches from the daily trials of life. Turn them over to God. He has tremendous shoulders for you to lean on.

We Often Get Angry and say Something we Regret

Just got home from an all day trip to the Oregon Coast. It is a trip that wears me down quickly. Two hours riding in a car each way. Then we went shopping at Costco. and that did me in pretty good. Could hardly walk when I got home and unloaded the car. I also took out the garbage.

Enough whining from me. I have been sporadic on doing my posts, because of still recuperating from my surgery. It has taken forever to get even close to 100%

Hey wait…I am whining again…sorry!!

My church service online from last Sunday was excellent. I am going to share some thoughts from that service.

The theme was “Don’t get caught up in the moment.”

We sometimes are easily upset and even angry with someone, and say things we later wish we hadn’t said.

I know I have been there. However, I am a guy that realizes my mistake and goes back to the person and apologize. There have been some of those times when they wouldn’t accept my apology,

At that point we need to move on and not dwell on the problem. If we do the other person has won.

We need to realize that we can get swept up in the currents of anger, jealousy, envy, hatred, etc. All those will lead to us drowning in the current.

Don’t drown in your own self pity. I used to have some great pity parties, but no one ever came.

Often because of the misunderstandings and hurts, we feel powerless, we lose hope. God gives hope to the hopeless. He makes the impossible possible. He brings power to the powerless, and life to that which was dead.

So face each day with hope, and don’t get caught up in the moment.

Another thing learned from church lasy Sunday:

Let God take the glory. I have really concentrated on saying God did this and that for me. It wasn’t me it was His graciousness.
Never add of subtract from God’s word. So many so called Christians take out of context what they want from a verse in the Bible to fit their own personal beliefs and not Gods.

How is the world flowing for you? Is it a little overwhelming? Do the days drag on, because you are lost and in mental pain?

Turn to God. He has the world’s biggest shoulders. I can’t imagine trying to face this planet without Him in my life.

Pray to Him about your hurts, and pains. Ask Him to relieve your guilt. Ask Him to give you peace, and love.

Perseverance, Love, and Hope, Are Three Very Powerful Words

Well it has been a week today since my surgery for replacing the generator on my defibrillator. Things seem to finally getting better. The pain is still there, but not as intense as in the past. I see my cardiologist later today. She will check the surgery area, and recommend some things to make my life more comfortable and easy.

I have been following the path of “perseverance,” on Mars. Absolutely amazing. There are many interesting things to see that I hope NASA explores.

I truly think that NASA will find ways for people to actually live there. Not for me though. I love my spot where I am at. 🙂

The name of the rover is my number one most favorite long word. Perseverance is my middle name. I have been many health issues through the years and I am still fighting. Two of them were near death experience.

A doctor was amazed how well I made it through a very serious quadruple bypass surgery. I also had an infection in my spine that was spreading rapidly, but due to excellent work by another doctor, I survived.

She said I really know how to persevere. Hench, my new nickname.

I have two short words that are tied for my favorite words, Hope, and Love. The two best four letter words on the planet.

Hope is the theme of this site. I have been doing this blog since 2009. I have made the blog the place to come to for finding hope and my other favorite word, love.

Jesus said love conquers all. I believe that is true. If the whole world believed that what a different world we would be in.

Have you been using these three words in your daily life? Do you persevere through the storms you face? Are love and hope you number one priority?

If that doesn’t seem possible right now, pray for guidance on how to achieve each of them. God is there and He listens.

Never give in to the dark side of life. Push hard towards the light. There is the right path to do that. With God’s help you will find it.

We Need to Cling to God’s Promises During Troubling Times

I told you in my last post that I had surgery on my pacemaker/defibrillator. Things have not gone well since. It was five days ago, and I am still in a lot of pain. It is supposed to be a procedure only and home the same day.

I did that, but the pain will not subside.

Started taking the actual pain killers yesterday and that has helped.

I am probably not supposed to doing this post, but I am determined.

I cling to God’s promises during troubling times like these. We need to know that God is always there. The God of the mountain that Moses went up to see is also the God that is in the valley where I live.

I can’t imagine anyone trying to take on this world without God. It is a very tough world to be in as it is. Having God there helps me be strong.

He shows me the paths to take to avoid danger, and won’t let me face more than I can handle.

Be strong, and know He is with you for your every breath. I keep thinking, “Where would I be if not for God?”

That God is your God too. He loves you. He wants to protect you. He made you in His image. If He has gone that far for you, who can be against you. NO ONE!!

The Furious Weather We Are Having Causes Much Pain and Destruction

What a scary few days we have had here lately. It’s called freezing rain! I feel that freezing rain is one of the most destructive weather situations you can face.

There was an inch of frozen rain on the ground and trees. The ground was a problem, but the real danger was the trees. They couldn’t take the weight of the ice.

There were trees that broke in half everywhere. Right across the street from me, there is still a tree on the roof of the house. The crews are totally swamped right now.

Next door to them is another tree that lost a massive limb that completely blocked the driveway.

You do not think of the ramifications of a storm like this until you have no electricity. That is devastating. You can’t cook. You can’t use your electric toothbrush, or electric razor.

You can’t use the toaster to even make toast.

There was no heat as well. That was very hard on us. We had to sit in front of the natural gas fireplace wrapped in blankets. We threw extra blankets on our bed at night.

We had to eat out of a cooler that was in the garage. BTW… the garage door wouldn’t open either.

This went on for 48 hours.

We have survived, and the electricity and heat is back. We have a friend staying with us that doesn’t have any electricity or heat. We are so glad we can help her.

God didn’t promise us a rose garden, and of course there are those thorns. He will not make you face anything you can’t handle. He is a loving God, and wants the very best for you.

Stay strong in this not so friendly world. Don’t let the dark side overcome you. I realize that our country is close to chaos right now. Many wrong things are happening. Cling to the promises that God has for us and survive.

Going to the Hospital Can be Scary, But Doesn’t Have to Be

This week is give blood time. Not voluntarily. Had to do a test to see how my blood thinner is doing. Then I had to go to another lab to have a test for a procedure I am doing next Friday.

Between now and next Friday, I have an echo done on my heart . At the heart clinic I was told I was getting a new generator in my defibrillator. I looked shocked and asked what she meant. She laughed and said, “No, no it is the new name for batteries in defibrillators!”

My surgery on Friday is an in and out. Quick replacement of the “generator,” and quick recovery.

I have been having a serious time with dizziness. I hope this procedure will help with that.

Have you had a situation where you have had to do some corrective surgery? Were you worried before the surgery.

I have so many surgeries, I have been OK, and not worried. The people know my by my first name! The last count I had there were 22 incisions in my body. After a while I feel I know more than the surgical people do, and laugh with them during prep.

When I had my first pacemaker put in during the year of 2008. The post op was pretty funny, because the doctor kept telling me the funny things I said during the procedure that had the whole surgical team laughing.

All we need to do is pray for God to be at our hospital visits, and keep us safe. He will be there the whole time holding your hand.

The time in the hospital is to help you be better. They will do everything they can to get you up and running again and healthy.
