It is not Veteran’s Day, but with the war going on in Ukraine I would like to share this with you:

Freedom is not Free

  1. It’s the veteran not the journalist who gave us freedom of the press.
  2. It’s the veteran not the poet who gave us freedom of speech.
  3. It’s the veteran not the campus organizer who gave us freedom the demonstrate.
  4. Veterans are those who salute the flag.
  5. Veterans are those who serve beneath the flag.
  6. Veterans are those who have coffins draped with the flag.

Yes, Ukraine is thousands of miles away, but when I see that Putin has bombed hospitals, especially a children’s hospital and a maternity hospital, I honor those soldiers there who are fighting back, and they will not give up.

We need to pray without ceasing for them.

How is your world turning? Do you want to stop it and get off? Has all the turmoil around you caught up with you?

There are many of us in the same boat.

We must never forget, and I repeat this a lot, GOD IS IN CHARGE!

He knows what is going on, and a I assure you He is not happy at all with Putin. But because He is such a loving God He allows people to make decisions that can horrific.

We need to cling to His promises, and cling to hope. He is watching over you and I.

Great Faith is Believing We Are Not Worthy

You look at that title and go WHAT? If I am not worthy, how can I have good faith? Read on.

Jesus had just finished His sermon on the mount. It was grueling and long. He was very tired. As He was heading away, a Centurion came up to Him and begged him to help his servant who was very ill and about to die.

This doesn’t sound like a true Centurion. They were ruthless. They found joy in torturing people. They killed many.

Jesus stopped to listen. He then said, “I will come and heal you servant.” The Centurion told Him. “I am not worthy of you to come to my home. Just say it and he will be healed.”

Jesus was astounded by this man’s faith. He told every one about him. A man had such strong faith that He knew that Jesus was capable to just saying his servant was healed that it would happen.

The Centurion thought he was not worthy and yet he had great faith.

Ukraine Needs Our Prayers and Love to Sustain Them

It has been very frightening for the people of Ukraine. They have a huge Army trying to defeat them. So far they are hanging tough, but there are thousands of Russian military heading for the capital.

It is easy to sit here in the United States and think, I feel badly for them, but I am safe here. We should never forget them. There are thousands of Christians there that will severely be persecuted and killed.

Pray for God’s intervention. Pray that He will protect the people of Ukraine. We may have to defend our own country some day.

How is your world turning? Do you want it to stop so you can get off? This hotel called earth, is become very hostile and sad. Many would want to check out.

Rest on the love of God. He knows what is happening. He knows our fears. The shortest verse in the Bible says, “Fear not!”

Don’t let the dark side overcome you with fear. God is in charge. We just have to be faithful and abide in Him.

Wars, and Rumors of Wars Can be Very Frightening.

It was a wild week last week. The war in Ukraine started and the whole world is saddened. Putin has become the latest dictator to bite off more than he can chew. There also rumors of other wars through out the world.

______________________________________________

We all dread the thought of war. There are no winners in a war. I spent time in Korea back in 1960 as a soldier. That was not long after the cease fire. I survived, but I feel for our current military, because of the powder keg ready to explode in many places all around the world.

How do we face this threat every day? What can we do to help?

  1. Pray!!! Pray for God’s wisdom, in all of these scary spots.
  2. Support our troops all that you can.
  3. If you have a member in the family in the military, let us know so we can pray specificity for that person.
  4. If you are a U.S. citizen, thank God for that, and be praising Him.
  5. Send emails to soldiers to show your support for them.

At yesterday’s church service the topic was about being disabled for 38 years of your life and then having Jesus come by and heal you. Can you imagine have 38 years of pain, and suddenly it is all gone?

God can do that in our lives today. Miracles happen everyday. Never give up. If your are struggling, pray without ceasing. God is there to listen.

The Threat of War Has us Under Great Stress.

We are on our way to the Oregon Coast. Not a cloud in the sky, but very, very, cold. It got down to 21 degrees last night.

I am bummed out. It looks like there is going to be a war in Europe and Ukraine. There is no reason for it to happen except for greed and power. We all need to pray for the area.

Have you had a lot of stress lately? Has the threat of war, the pandemic, inflation, a divided country, wore you down and made you weary?

You certainly are not alone! There are many of us in the same boat with you.

I may be repeating myself, but here is how I face the storms of life:

  1. Each day is a new day. Yesterday is going and tomorrow isn’t here yet. Just take care of today.
  2. There are some things we can’t control.
  3. There are people from the dark side that are trying to under mind our country. Ignore them! You and I know what is right.
  4. Bottom line...GOD IS IN CHARGE! He knows all the mess we are facing. He knows we are stressed. He still wants what is best for His people.
  5. Pray for His love and protection. Give all your stress to Him.
  6. BE STRONG!

I am very tired today so my spellcheck better work. 🙂

I am getting to the age where every new day is a blessing. I am almost through with my second book, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the Trenches of Life.

It is a book for the veterans who are struggling with life. It covers PTSD, TBI, Depression, anxiety, etc. It also shares live for me while I was in the military. Some funny and not so funny stories there.

My next book will be called, Signs of Hope for Seniors: The Alligators that Chase us. I am an expert on that since I am 82 years old and counting.

It will talk about aging, of course, but also about loneliness, health issues, depression, lack of memory, being sent to assisted living, and many more of the usual suspects for seniors.

Remember Days of Gas for 25 Cents? Inflation Took Care of That

Another day, another dollar. That is a phrase I heard lot as a kid. In the 1940’s things were scarce including money. One dollar was a lot back then.

Now days, if you don’t thousands of dollars a month, you are in poverty. It is called inflation.

I remember gas being 25 cents a gallon. .05 cents for a package of gum, and $2.99 for a carton of cigarettes.

We survived by having uncles that had farms and they shared the crops with us. I ate every kind of dish that you can make potatoes out of. Tomatoes were plentiful, so we canned them. Peaches the same way. We all went together to have Beef packaged for all of us.

I made money for school clothes by working on my uncle’s farm every summer.

Of course it isn’t close to being that hard these days.

I want you to know I had a very happy childhood. I knew what family was. We would all gather together often. That meant a lot to me. The lov overflowed during those times.

___________________________________________________

Did you have a good or bad childhood? Was it hard for you? I hope way back then you realized you were loved deeply by God. He was with you during all of your storms. He was just a prayer away.

That is what got me through some tough years in my early life. I accepted to Lord when I was fifteen years old through the Young Life meetings.

I faced the world in a whole different way after that time. I was at peace with my living conditions.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. If you have felt abandoned, and are struggling. Struggle no more. Pray to God, and also ask Jesus into you heart. Those two things will see you through many storms of life.

Do you seem to walk around lost? Are there many days you would rather stay in bed?

There are many others just like that. They stumble through life without any purpose.

God loves each of us as if there there was only one of us to love.

John 3:16 says that God so loved the world that He sent His only Son to provide us with internal life.

He allow His son to be put to die out of love for us.

February is the love month, and today is the love day. Love conquers all, and we should use it all the time.

Today, reach out to your loved ones, and tell them you love them. Call your neighbors and tell them Happy Valentines Day.

We Have Nothing At All to Fear, But Fear Itself

You have heard of lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! Well, what about threat of war, pandemic, and gouging prices increases, Oh My! I may want to choose the first choice.

This may not be a fun time to be alive in this world. So many things to cause fear. Fear is our worst enemy right now.

So what in the world can we do?

  1. Do not worry about tomorrow. Today has enough worries to handle.
  2. Worry is the darkroom where negatives are developed.
  3. Know that God is always there by your side to help you through the storms of life.
  4. Be strong for others and it will rub off on you.
  5. God will never you put you into anything you can not handle. That is Satan’s job.

Are you overwhelmed with the fear of the unknown? Does each day seem to be too much for you?

FEAR NOT!

That is the shortest verse in the Bible. It also is the strongest in my opinion. Never give in the the dark side of Satan. He would love you put you up on his wall as a trophy.

Who is Your One For You to Reach Out to?

In the Bible it tells us about the importance of one. Jesus had two parables to describe this:

  1. There was a shepherd tending his flock. He counted them and there was suppose to be 100. He found one was missing. He left the 99 to search for that one lost sheep. When he found the sheep, he rejoiced because he saved that one sheep from the wolves, and other animals.
  2. There was a woman who lost one of her coins. She left to rest of the money to search for that one coin. When she found it she rejoiced and let everyone know she had found it.

What I have learned from this is that I need to seek the ones who are lost and tell them at the good word of God. While we are doing this we are to seek the one-Jesus Christ.

I heard the lyrics from a song that said, “I’ll never know how much it cost to see my sin on that cross.” Very profound and direct.

So, who can you reach out to? Who is that one? It could be that neighbor who feels lost and depressed. It could be the man seeking money at the corner. It could be a member of your own family.
