It has been awhile since I posted. been struggling with the flu, hip pain and weakness. I am trying to get back to the routine of talking with you.

It can be very disheartening to have so many trials in ones life. It seems to be a regular thing for some of us. I am an optimist, so I have some thoughts on the grim outlook of life:

  1. Storms come, but storms go.
  2. Never give up.
  3. Always fight back against the darkside.
  4. The past is gone, live for today, because tomorrow is another day.
  5. Reach out to others who are struggling. It helps them AND you.

The new year is upon us. We need to look forward to a bright year full of hope. It only can happen when you believe that. Start out the new year with hope and courage.

Also know that God is with you. He knows your hurts. He knows your needs. pray to Him for your protection and love.

FOREWORD


STORIES HAVE THEIR own unique way of teaching us things.
When Jesus taught the crowds from Capernaum to Jerusalem,
He chose stories about everyday people in everyday places to
teach us about ourselves and about the God we serve. With their
panoramic perspective, stories give us insight into the essential
matters of life. We learn from the truths embedded in the journey
of others.
In Signs of Hope, Douglas Bolton extracts wisdom from his
personal life experience, mining it for the faith lessons God
has urged his heart to pen for us. In his words, we fi nd simple
answers to the harrowing and the complicated as he shares timely
and powerful lessons on living with hope in the midst of this
challenging age.
Hope refreshes us when we feel overpowered by the world
around us. We observe bleakness in another’s eyes (and sometimes

Friends Are Extremely Important in Our lives

I have been feeling very weak lately. I am sure it is because I can’t exercise. I have a hernia that is too painful if I exercise. Seeing a doctor to see if he will do surgery on it.

I am going to spend a few days at the Oregon Coast. A friend has invited me to come and stay with him. This will be much needed relaxation.

What would we do without friends? I mean close friends. You have some that are acquaintances, but a true close friend at hard to find. I have a few like my friend I am going to visit. He is a guy I can spill my guts to and never fear it will get to other people.

Do you have close friends? If not, reach out and get to know new people. There will be a diamond in the rough there somewhere.

Close friends are vital for you and I to have.

But, we have a friend in Jesus and the song goes. God is there for us as well. They love you and want what is best for you, so seek them out as your true best friends.

Did You Have Destruction Knock at Your Door?

I have been fighting with myself lately. I have trouble with the war in Ukraine. I feel deep sadness for the people of Ukraine. They are being slaughtered for no good reason. Russia is raping is also the women.

In my opinion war crimes are rampant there. There should be a tribunal checking it out.

That doesn’t help me at all, because you can’t bring the people back.

Still remodeling at my home here. The kitchen has new wooden floors that look beautiful. On Friday there will be new carpeting in the den.

Then of course we have to put everything back. I am surrounded with furniture as I sit here typing.

Have you had disruption knock on your door? Did it stay like those long lost relatives?

FEAR NOT! Storms come, and they go away. Stay strong and weather those storms.

Sometimes we get dealt lemons in our lives. We just need to adjust and overcome them.

President Biden Made a Speech that Divided Our Country.

Going to have lunch with a friend after I finish this post. Applebees, is having all you can eat boneless wings. We are going to see if we can rung them out of them. 🙂

Went to see a foot doctor today, for hammer toe. It is a painful curling of my big toe on my right foot. He gave me some ideas on how to help, plus going to an insert specialist to get insert put in to help.

I was very saddened by the speech President Biden gave the other day. It certainly wasn’t a speech to unite our country. Made me upset, and I am a democrat. He needs desperately to try to bring our country together not further apart.

________________________________________________________________________________________ No matter what you party connection is we need to stop this horrible division our country is in, and try to work out our differences.

________________________________________________________________________________________

How are you doing? Had life stepped on your feet and given you pain like I have? It is tough to be positive in our world today. Inflation, Border crises, food prices. Gas prices, and the list goes on.

I think we need to regroup and realize that God is in charge. He knows what is going on. He is not happy, but He allows us to make up our own decisions and most of then aren’t good right now.

My Pastor yesterday told us the end times are coming and we need not worry if we are Christians. I find comfort in that.

If you are not a Christian turn you life over to God right now and find peace.

There Needs to be Ways We Can Help Turning Our Country Around

I have decided to do some changes to this site to make it more interesting. Let me know in the comment section below what you think.

_______________________________________________________________________________________OOur country is heading in the wrong direction. Inflation is sky high. Gas prices are terrible. Thousands of illegal immigrants are crossing our southern border. Corruption is running wild in our government. The crime rates are out of sight.

It is hard not to be depressed when this is happening. So what can we do to try to overcome all of this:

  1. Write to your congressmen and women. Let them know you aren’t happy on how things are going.
  2. Support positive causes. I will not list them here. Check them out.
  3. Teach your children what is right and wrong. This will change the world.
  4. Be strong in your beliefs.

How you are you holding up? Is all this turmoil overcoming you? It is reassuring to me that God is with me. The comfort I feel is beyond definition. I know He is watching over me, and guiding me down the right paths. He is my fortress, my tower of strength, and my protector.

Normal is not Coming Back, but Jesus is Coming Back

A friend saw the title of this post on a T-shirt. I think I want one.

My Pastor started a new series this Sunday called, the end times. I thought, this could depressing. I was totally wrong.

The end times will end up being a wonderful time if you are a Christian. Think on this:

Everyone who believes will be pulled up into heaven all at once during the rapture. There will be no pain or agony during this moment.

Grace came to you through Jesus dying on the cross. It will come again during the rapture.

If you are not sure if you will be sent during the rapture, do the following:

  1. Repent. Ask God to forgive you.
  2. Return to fellowship at your church, there is so much support for you there.
  3. Remember…no matter how old you are, God is not through with you yet.

Jesus came in as the lamb and he will come back as a lion.

Never think you are beyond being accepted during the rapture. God loves you as you are. Just confess your sins and enjoy the ride.

Are You a Drunkard, or a Law Abiding Christian Person?

We had our home built. It was fun to watch it growling into a beautiful home. That was 22 years ago and we are still here. One thing that I noticed is how much the trees have grown. They were planted as little starts, and now they are 40 feet high.

That reminds me of our life. We are were little starts at one time, and grew up. It is what we grew up into that counts.

You can grow up to be an outstanding citizen who achieved may things, or you can be a drunkard lying in the gutter. Pretty stark comparison, but it happens over and over again.

How do I make sure I am on the right path?

  1. I stay with the truth. God is real, and He is my guide.
  2. I never try to create a new doctrine. the bible is my doctrine.
  3. I could have been that guy drunk in the gutter, but I chose the right path, and I am very proud of the many things I have accomplished.

How about you? Are you the drunkard, or do you like where you are at? If you do not like where you are at, it is never too late to change. God is always eager to open up to you. He will guide you the rest of the way.

Never Let Age Stop You From Reaching Your Dreams

Being an author has been a thrill for me. My first book received a national award from the Reader’s Favorite Awards.

I am now working on my second book called, Signs of Hope for the Military: In and Out of the trenches of Life. It is almost finished and will come out by Christmas.

Sounds peachy keen right? Well, I have found that it is hard work and stressful. Not that I don’t enjoy writing. I love it, but there are other things I have to do like sell the book. I have been self publishing, which means it is all up to me to the marketing, promotions, signings, etc.

I am 83 years old and now am wondering if I have the stamina to go on with the big push for my second book.

Here is my feelings on that:

  1. Your never too old to start something.
  2. Use your age to be a expert on things people want to know about.
  3. Take time to do what ever project you are working on. Rushing has been bad news for me.
  4. Enjoy what you are doing. Don’t do it thinking you have to do it.

The most important thing to remember is that God is with you. He knows about your dreams. He knows what you are capable of. He will guide you down your path, or He will stop you if He thinks it is too much for you.

Getting Older is Not for Sissies. Enjoy Your Life

Last week I went to four doctor’s appointments. FOUR! I wish I could go to Walmart and buy me a new body!

______________________________________________________________________________________

Do you feel age creeping upon you? Does it seem harder to do some things? I certainly hear you.

What does all this mean. My top ten thoughts….

  1. I am still above the daisies.
  2. People understand me when I repeat myself.
  3. Aging is good excuse to miss out on some yard work.
  4. Your children start calling you “Old man.”
  5. You just can’t find that watch you are looking for.
  6. You can watch the same TV shows, and not remember the first time you watched it.
  7. Tying shoes gets very hard.
  8. I used to walk, now I stroll.
  9. Driving is now not my favorite thing to do.
  10. Naps are wonderful.

You can see that this is the way I handle my aging. Humor!! It is not the end of the world to get older, and the alternative is not good.

Enjoy your life. You only do it once. The good news is that your getting another day closer to being with the Lord. I’m ready.
