Thinking of the people in Maui. It is so sad the losses they have occurred. Many deaths and rising. Homes lost.

There is a dire need for all of us to pray for them at this time.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

The even sadder thing is the response for our president. When he was asked his thoughts on it, he said, “No comment.” Really? The people are suffering, and he said no comment?

This made me very angry. I have been to Maui, and the people there are great people like you and I. A comment like that tears them down, not build them up.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Have you had people turn their back on you? Did you feel the hurt? If So what can we do to help with the sadness?

______________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Don’t let anyone degrade you. They seem to have their won problems.
  2. Do not strike back. They will be the winner in that situation.
  3. I know this may be awkward, but pray for that person. They have deep problems.
  4. The most important thing to remember is that God loves you very much.

Still struggling with pain. It is hard to face the day when you know pain is around. My right hip is not responding to meds. I have been referred to a PT specialist, and I hope he can do something for me.

____________________________________________________________________________________

How can we overcome the afflictions of life? We often ask God, “Why me?” It is not easy to explain, but I have thoughts on how I handle it:

  1. Take every day one day at a time. I know this is an old thought, but it works for me.
  2. Never let the darkside try to blame it on God. God loves us, and knows what we are going through.
  3. Read the Bible! It is full of love, and compassion.
  4. Help others that are the same boat with you. You helping others soothes the soul and brings a smile to others faces.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Stay strong and rely on the Lord to protect you. He is just a prayer away.

As I look out the window here at Sun River, Oregon, I see crews cutting down trees near me. They are huge trees. It is amazing what they can do without too much danger.

Have you ever taken on some projects that were a little dangerous? Dis you fear for your life? Did it make you anxious?

We all face those kinds of days. What to do? How to handle it?

_____________________________________________________________________________________

There are two ways to handle them.

  1. Panic, and scream for help.
  2. Pray for God’s help who is there 24/7 to protect you.

Which one would you choose?

____________________________________________________________________________________

The obvious choice for me is too always depend on God for my help. He has always been there for me during dangerous and fearful times.

I could give you a long list where He has helped me. Most was physical help through afflictions.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Don’t allow fearful events overcome you. Cling to God’s promises like, “I will not forsake you.” Never let the dark side overcome you.

Life is not a rose garden. We face many trials in our live time. It is how we handle them that defines our character.

I can safely say that I have had many trials in my life so far. I could list them, but understand that if you name every kind of doctor there is, I have seen them.

Orthopedic, Urologist, back, Achilles doctor, dermatologist, Heart doctor, Primary doctor, Pain management doctor, Physical therapy, and several others.

I am not trying to whine. I just want you to see that I love the Lord, and the world no matter what happens to me.

I know I am loved by God. I know that He will take care of me.

Something to think about:

God’s power and presence either makes you draw close, or pull you away.

I did some ranting in my last post. Sounds like I thought the world was coming to a horrible end.

I will be more optimistic today.

I am on vacation this week with my family. We are at Sun River, Oregon. A beautiful setting, and lots of fun for everyone.

As I look out the window I see deer grazing. Chipmunks climbing, and people riding their bikes. Perfect weather.

When I see all of this I am thankful for the years I served my country in the military. There isn’t too many countries that have the freedoms that we have. Thank a veteran for that.

Have you had days where you would rather stay in bed all day rather than face the world? I have been there. I won’t go into the reasons I sometimes feel that way, but we need to get past those days.

My way of handling it is pray! I pray to go to help me through the day. I ask him to soften some pain I may be going through. He knows our hurts and disappointments. He loves us, and will answer our prayers.

It seems to me that we are living in a progressively failing world. So much is not going right around our country.

  1. Iran is pushing hard to capture our merchant ships that are not even in their area.
  2. Russia, is still trying to overcome Ukraine. It is a bloody battle.
  3. China is circling Taiwan and getting closer to attacking them.
  4. North Korea is still shotting missiles even thought the US wants them to stop.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

There are four possible wars right there.

__________________________________________________________________________________

In our country there is:

  1. High inflation.
  2. High gas prices.
  3. Grocery bills skyrocketing.
  4. Interest rates are soaring, making it very hard to buy a home.
  5. Norms are collapsing.

___________________________________________________________________________________

It is hard to be optimistic in this kind of environment.

____________________________________________________________________________________

It is time for prayer!! We need to ask God for His intervention. He knows what is going on. He knows things are not all good.

Why does He allow all this to happen? It is because He gave us all choices. We can decide what to do, and then face the consequences later. We need just to put up with our pleas for Him to have mercy on those who love Him.

Worshipping by Faith is Recognizing God for Who He is.

When we look at the story of Abel from Genesis 4, we can see what it looks like to worship by faith. Worship is the recognition of God for who He is, what He has done and what we are trusting Him to do in the future.

Sometimes worship is private meditation. Other times it can be a celebration. But it is always done in recognition that He alone deserves our worship because He is the only true God. Worship was established in the early chapters of Genesis as we see Abel bringing “the firstlings of his flock” to offer to God. He is viewed as a righteous man in Hebrews 11 because he gave God the best that he had. He gave to God first, honoring God’s person and position.

If you want meaning in your life, then you are going to have to learn to worship by faith. That means that you aren’t just seeking after feelings when you worship. You don’t have to feel like you want to praise Him in order to lift up your voice in worship. Truth be told, we all sometimes don’t feel much emotion in our worship. That’s okay. We do it because we need to do it. We need to worship . . . and, Scripture tells us, God seeks worshipers.

So, let’s worship by faith. Don’t make your feelings the engine. Keep them as the caboose. They’re still attached to the train, but they don’t run the show. Worshiping by faith is an investment of your time, not merely a spending of it. And good investments always pay good dividends.

When your doctor examines you, having a good appetite is considered one of the indicators of your health. Consistent loss of appetite is, on the other hand, an indication of a deeper problem. That’s why one of the first questions a nurse or a doctor will ask when you go in for a visit is about your appetite.

Similarly, your spiritual appetite is one of the great indicators of your spiritual health. If you experience no appetite for God, then you are revealing your lack of connection to Him.

We live in a day when most of us don’t have to worry about being hungry for very long. Most people in the Western world have plentiful access to food. Sure, we may be inconvenienced by the time it takes to go to a store or restaurant, but very few of us in our nation know true physical hunger.
It wasn’t like that in biblical days when there were no freezers or refrigerators. People had to hustle after food day in and day out because it couldn’t typically be preserved for extended periods of time. In addition, food preparation was often laborious and lengthy. Little was wasted when little is all they had.

Real hunger can be so deep and so gnawing that it can literally hurt, keeping someone awake all night. This is the hunger and the thirst Jesus spoke about. He told us that when it comes to the spiritual realm, we are blessed if we have this kind of hunger and thirst. We are blessed if we passionately desire righteousness.

So, what are you hungry for? What do you thirst for? What’s your spiritual appetite like?

What is the Devils Favorite Question to Ask?

“How much will you lose if you follow Jesus?” That’s the devil’s favorite question; he has successfully used it more than any other to lead billions to hell.

The Bible clearly warns that there will be loss in following Jesus. However, it also teaches that there are compensating gains. So, in addition to counting the cost, we must also count the profit. Yes, there are expenses, but there’s also income.

What is faith?

What do we mean when we talk about faith? We use the word a lot, but it’s a concept that many of us have found hard to grasp. Hebrews 11:1 defines it well: “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

What this tells us is that faith is based on content. It isn’t just about vague feelings. Nor is it a question of how much faith you have. It’s about what you are trusting in and how that is reflected by your actions—by the movement of your feet. Faith is acting like God is telling the truth. It’s acting like it is so even when it’s not so in order that it might be so simply because God said so.

Faith is substantial, but faith deals with what you cannot yet see. If you put seeing before faith then it isn’t really faith at all. Faith is anticipating what you are looking forward to. Faith is about expectation, and the biblical word for that is hope. When you and I learn to expect big things from God and move in sync with Him through obedience (which is the essence of faith), then we will see more of God in our everyday circumstances. We will have more hope.

Despair is not the end of the story in our lives. It is simply the occasion when our spiritual senses are awakened to behold new, life-giving dimensions of God’s presence. In Jesus’s words, “Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.”

That seems hard to believe! You are comforted when you mourn?

Life is fragile and all too brief. According to the Psalmist, our lifetimes are a “mere breath.” We may perhaps live into our seventies or eighties “by reason of strength,” but our experience is generally full of “toil and trouble” (Ps. 39:5Ps. 90:10). Sometimes life leaves you weeping in the dark.

Then I imagined God saying: Keep pedaling, son, despite your fears. I know all the bumps in the road, and, although you falter and even wipe out, my grace encircles you to the end.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

We have all faced times that we had to mourn. It is not a pleasant time.

The above message is telling us that God is saying “Keep pedaling.” Keep on keeping on.

God is with you 24/7. Even when we mourn. Pray to Him for strength through the tough times.
