It is a nice sunny day today. It will be the last of some sun for a week or two. We had a great summer here, except it got over a hundred degress six times.

I often wonder how things got to the way it is in our world right now. Pandemic going crazy, politicians attacking each other verbally, and continuous rioting in the big cities.

What is wrong with this picture?

Lots of, not so much fun, things happening. I have decided to be thankful for everything, because it is part of God’s plan. It is hard to accept some things that are happening, but God is working on it.

What to do if you are battling the situation:

  1. Take big breaths when you are getting stressed.
  2. There will be storms come, but they will pass.
  3. Never give in to the darkside, who would love for you to that.
  4. Read the bible for God’s promises. The book is loaded with them.
  5. Go for long walks(if it is sunny,) and release all the negative thoughts in your head.
  6. Keep on keeping on.

I have my granddaughter visiting me today. She is only ten years old, but her wisdom is amazing. She teaches me many things about life. She doesn’t allow things to get to her. I need to be more like her.

Top Five Ways to Survive in a Not so Friendly World

I had my usual Physical therapy today. Went pretty smoothly. Getting stronger each visit.

The governor of my state of Oregon announced today that we are going back to mandating masks for indoor events. The new Delta virus is causing havoc everywhere. We are back to where we were over a year ago.

Here are some scary statistics. Two of the biggest cities in our nation have had a tremendous increase of deaths from the virus. In one of the cities 95% of the deaths were not vaccinated. In the other city it was 94%. Pretty clear facts that shows everyone needs to get their shots now.

I don’t know about you, but I am struggling with all the turmoil that is going on all around us. Fake news, rioting, racism, lying by politicians, bad decisions by congress, and a president that doesn’t even know how many people live in our country.

I sat down and tried to figure out how I could face all of this mess. Here is what I came up with:

  1. Time to wear blinders like horses do. Only look straight ahead to the future.
  2. Only believe facts. not fairy tales.
  3. Do not blame people around you for problems, look in the mirror.
  4. Reach out to help those who are confused and depressed.
  5. Rely on your family and friends to see you through the storms.

If you are overcome with all the turmoil. Make you own list of survival ideas. Live by them every day.

The So Called Movements Are Corrupting the Minds of People

I have been learning about what justice is through my church. It has been a theme for several weeks.

The Pastor’s definition was : Loving what is good and hating what is evil.

Makes sense to me.

One thing we need to remember is that God’s purpose for justice differs from OUR pursuit of justice.

His purpose for justice is purification and restoration. We get that in one place. It is on the cross.

When we try to take on the world alone without Jesus we tend to be corrupted. It can catch us when we are unaware. The Black lives matter movement, and the anti everything groups darken our view of what is right and wrong.

One thing we must never forget is that everyone needs compassion and forgiveness. Even the anti groups.

Never let the dark side sway you into thinking in negative ways.

Take courage; hold on, and be strong.

If you are getting caught up in the turmoil of the rioting, and people attacking the government, stop now and know that God is in charge. He knows what is going on, and He will correct everything when he is ready.

As for you and I. We need to pray for God’s guidence, and be open to His suggestions. Life would much more livable if we let God take charge of our lives.

The Opinions, and the Turmoil is Dragging us Down

Our pastor used the word, “Behold,” Yesterday. He explained that it meant to wake up and listen. This is important, and you better get this right.

We as parents use different words to try to get point across to our children. But, just for a second let’s see how it would work to use “Behold.”

Behold, your room is a mess. Clean it.

Behold your curfew is 10:30pm

Behold Get better grades.

I am not sure how well that would go, but it may be interesting.

The reason our pastor was talking about behold was because when we see the word behold, it means this is important and pay attention. I remember seeing that word at many places in the Bible, and it woke me up to knowing something was coming.

Isaiah 42: 1-9 uses it several times. The Prophet Isaiah was trying to wake the people up about the wrong doings they were doing. Idolatry, Sexual living, Coveting others wives.

He warned them that things will go wrong if they didn’t change.

In our day and age, we should be listening to Isaiah. We need to change. We need to stop listening to the crowd who wants rioting, cries of racism when there is none.

The only thing to listen to is the word of God. That never changes.

It’s not our feelings. It’s not popular opinion. It’s not what presidents or politicians say. God’s word is the only standard of truth. We cannot align with the rising opinions rather than the Bible, we won’t get justice.

Do you feel emotionally, physically, and spiritually drained, because of all the turmoil going on around you? You have carried this burden too long on your own. You should not bear it alone.

Turn to God. He has big shoulders to lean on. Pray for His love and protection. He will be there for you through the storms in your life.

People Are Caught up in the Rat Race of Sin

Some thoughts I heard at church yesterday…

  1. The answer to sin, injustice, and rebellion, is to turn to God and His Word and trust.
  2. Long for the lord and His future reign. How blessed are those who long for Him.
  3. Pray for those who have fallen under the spell of the secular, social justice movement.
  4. Politics is about a core group of people who believes a community ought to be ordered for the common good. It is call misplaced trust.
  5. Justice comes to the very heart of how human beings made in the image of God are to treat one another. It is a bearing on how marriage is supposed to work, how the family is to be ordered, and where the state has authority from God to reward good and punish evil.

Interesting thoughts. It mainly is talking about the turmoil our country has gotten into. So many people believe what they are doing is right. The protesters, rioting, racism, sexual and mental abuse.

God has taught us to rebel against those kind of people in a loving way. We can’t fight fire with fire. We must pray or them and hope they will open their eyes to their folly.

Where is your mind today? Are you clinging to God’s robe of righteousness? Do you pray every day for guidence?

If you are struggling, open your heart to God and ask Him to give you His loving fortress. He will protect you and clam your storm.

Everything Looks Great. What Could go Wrong? Everything!

We are off to the Oregon Coast. Beautiful day, and tons of God’s beauty to see. What could go wrong??

When I think about that I realize that many things could go wrong. We do not live in a perfect world:

  1. The Pandemic.
  2. Rioting.
  3. Storms that are hitting many states.
  4. Drought for the whole West Coast.
  5. This leads to many wildfires. (Already having one in Oregon.)

This is a short list and I am sure you could add many more.

So, how do we face each day when so many bad things are coming our way?

  1. Face the storms of life.
  2. All storms end.
  3. God is there during your storms.
  4. Turn all your fears over to God.

So simplistic yet so true. God has the power to build a fortress for you to protect you from evil and everyday hazards.

Never try to take on this world alone. Pray for God to give you the armor you need to survive.

Whining to God Doesn’t Put You on the Right Path

Have been battling pneumonia since Tuesday. On a antibiotic prescription routine. Have one day left for that. Getting better, but it seems slow.

Another day another dollar. That was the saying when I was a child. They really meant it. A dollar a day was the wage back then. The amazing things about all of this is that I never felt poor. My single parent mother made sure my brother and I had, food to eat. A roof over our head, and even had a dime to go see a movie on Saturdays. We were happy.

___________________________________________

It pains me to hear about the “terrible” conditions people feel they have to go through these days. “Can’t buy the boat I wanted! Never able to drive the car I really want. Can’t give all my children I-Phones.” PLEASE!

Buckle up and face the day people. Things aren’t even close to being bad right now as far as material things. Be happy with what you have.

I sound whiny today. Sorry about that. There really are bad things we do have to face:

The pandemic, rioting, fake media, illnesses, and threats of war.

The only suggestion I have is to depend on God to see you through all of this mess. He knows what is going on, and in my opinion, we shouldn’t question His ideas. He knows what is best for you , and it may not be what you want. However, in the long run you will look back and realize that what He did for you was the right choice.

Never succumb to the earthly muck and mire. Stand strong and keep moving forward. Pray for guidence from God and He will show you the way.

Failure Shouldn’t be Anything Bad in Our Lives, Move on

The election is behind us, and we have a new president. I did not vote for him, but my prayers are with him each day.

President Biden is in a big hurry to wipe out everything the President Trump accomplished. On his first day he signed over 25 executive orders to change many things President Trump had done.

We will have to wait and see how the people respond to all this change.

There were massive rioting on inauguration day in Seattle, and Portland, Oregon. President Biden has his hands full.

Have you every failed? Did you attempt something and it all went south? You certainly are not alone. Here is a quote by arguably the greatest basketball player of all time.

” I’ve missed over 9,000 shots in my career. I lost lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I failed over and over in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

Michael Jordan.

Her is an example of failure in the Bible. Peter, one of Jesus’ closest friends failed.

He told Jesus He would never betray him. Jesus, said, “This very night before the rooster crows you will deny me three times. Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you, and all the disciples said the same. Peter then denied knowing Jesus three times. Later, after the rooster crowed, Peter remembered what he had said and he wept bitterly.

Many people today point to Peter as an example of what not to do, such as, speaking before you think, having little faith, being impulsive, and shrinking back denying things.

In our own lives this is what we need to do:

Admit it

Be open and admit when you fail. Trying to hide sin doesn’t work. God already knows what you have done.

Forget it

Once you have admitted it let it go. Stop thinking about it in your mind. God doesn’t give you a list of things He has forgive you for so neither should you.

Get Back in it

Once you are forgiven it is over. Don’t waste any time. Get back in the game! God wants you to live fully, without being weighed down by shame and guilt. Use your failure to fuel your future success. God has too much to accomplish through you to be burdened by past failures.

We Must Remain Strong in This Not so Friendly World

What happened on Wednesday was horrific. I was ashamed I was an American when I sat and watched rioters break into our National Capital, and even to the house and senate floor.

I 100% condemn their efforts. Nothing was accomplished, and other countries were appalled at what was going on.

This type of terror has to stop and stop now.

___________________________________________

It is hard for me to do the things I need to do to stay strong and healthy. I try to work out twice a week, but it is getting more difficult.

I did a doctor’s appointment, I also did some shopping today, and that got my step count up. Mostly though I am grounded, because of health issues.

I will have to come with some “In house,” exercises. Will share what I came up with in a future post.

I was able to watch my home church online last Sunday. I wrote down three notes that mean a lot to me.

Our relationship with God can thrive regardless of what is going on around us.

We should listen, trust and obey, as far as our walk with God.

The Pastor asked this question: Do you stand out as a righteous person?

Each of those statements hit me between the eyes. Not in pain, but reality. The first statement was so very reassuring. We all need to remember that God is with us through the good and bad of our lives.

The second statement woke me up big time. We should always listen, trust and obey God, because He knows what is best for us.

The last statement, I am still working on each day. We should all strive to be righteous people.

Say Good Bye 2020 and Hello to 2021 That Will Give Us Hope

Now that the vaccine is out, and many are getting the shots, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

When each of us actually get the shot is another story. According to my situation with several health issues, I just may be near the top. We will see.

We have had a horrendous 2020!

There were the wild fires. There is still the pandemic. Rioting is still going on in some places. Crime is sky rocketing. Other than that we had a great year! 🙁

It will be my pleasure to say good-bye to 2020 in two days. 2021 can only be up. It is a new beginning. It gives us new hope.

I forgot that we still aren’t completely sure who our next president will be. There are law suits pending at the Supreme Court. What is right will prevail. I am also so glad that the actual campaign is over. Such hatred, lies and rioting, came passing our way.

Here is what I think each of us should do in the new year. These are not New Year’s resolutions. They are just suggestions:

  1. Forget the past it is already gone.
  2. Look forward to the new beginning.
  3. Plan to have a great year.
  4. Put away your hatred, and bitterness.
  5. Go on a better direction if you feel lost.
  6. Pray!
  7. Know God is with you for your every breath.
  8. PRAY!!

I have recovered from the holidays. Just New Years Eve to go, and my life with be on cruise control. (At least that sounds good.)

How about you? Have you been pulled down like a huge magnate? Has each hour seemed like a month? Is the path that you are on getting too rough?

Lean on God. He has huge shoulders, and loves you very much. You aren’t just anybody. You are God’s child. He made you in His own image. You are important, because God doesn’t make mistakes.
